Just as your body is what you eat. Your mind is what you feed it too.

Just as we need to feed our body the good stuff so too do we need to feed our mind the good stuff!!! As they say garbage in = garbage out.
Junk food has been proven to be linked to poor mental health issues. We are what we eat.
Our brain needs the right vitamins stored in our body to function well, such as Fish Oil, and Vitamin D. Dr Daniel Amen a clinical neuroscientist and brain imaging expert has some great research on this.
The difference between mindless, drama-filled reality type TV and growth mindset learning-based viewing can not be underestimated.
We are bombarded with information nowadays. We live in the Information Age (digital). 90% of all the data in the world has been generated in the last two years. Through the internet, 24-hour television and mobile phones we now received 5 times as much information every day as we did in 1986 let alone the changes from previous generations. No wonder we are exhausted. We need to have the capacity to switch off/destress our brain. Meditation/prayer can help with this.
Reflecting on the Self-Care list previously mentioned.
- What things are you currently doing in the area of Self-Care that are mentally nourishing you? Write down all the things you are currently doing to support your mental health. Things that nourish your soul and make your heart sing or bring you peace. Eg: meditation/prayer, reading mentally stimulating books.
- Consider the things you are doing that are not supporting your mental well being. Eg: watching trashy TV/series, being around negative people.
- Now write down at least 3 new practices you are going to incorporate into your life to mentally nourish yourself.
